How It Got Started
One day, while Joe Keim and Wayne Ayer were discussing the great need for evangelism among the Amish culture, Wayne said, "Joe, we desperately need to educate and equip our Bible believing churches on how to reach out to their Amish neighbors and friends with the full and unclouded gospel of Jesus Christ. From there, we started talking with others who have gotten saved and left the Amish church to grow in their walk with Christ. By early 2013, it was a sure thing; we are going to have our first two day conference. We believe God is about to do a work that is far beyond anything we have ever seen.
Background
The Amish Awareness Conference is an extension of Mission to Amish People (MAP), which began in 2000. Since the beginning of MAP, over 2,300 Amish people have given their lives to Jesus Christ. Many of these salvation decisions are the result of the Bible Club and the Amish Voice, both ministries of MAP.
MAP reaches out to hundreds of youth who left the Amish culture, by helping them with social security numbers, jobs, driver's license, housing, education and counseling. While helping them with their physical needs, we share the gospel and have seen many come to Christ, get baptized and go on mission's trips.
